I’ve always been inspired by soul music of the 70s and 80s. Particularly the anglicized soul of David Bowie and Brian Ferry. The summer and fall of 2024 brought a new fascination of F. Scott Fitzgerald with his iconic prose and worldly sense of class. I re-read Gatsby and devoured his remaining catalogue. Strangers is a paean to both. This track features the jazz touches of Geoff Burke on saxophone and swooning Chopin-esque flourishes of Sean Spada on piano. Jordan Auber lends a fatback groove that never drops.
